“I always get plenty of questions about Strictly, my books and an awful lot of questions about Europe too,” she said. “But that is part of the fun of it. The whole thing is off the cuff. It’s my life. It’s what I have been involved in.”
On Wednesday 5 October at St Boniface’s Catholic College, Ann Widdecombe kept the audience’s attention from start to finish. With witty anecdotes about life at Westminster, being an author and a TV personality, the former Shadow Home Secretary was engaging and entertaining, and when faced with questions ranging from her views on Brexit and the US election to ‘Strictly’ and whether Anton du Beke would ever win it, nothing phased her. All in all it was a thoroughly good night, enjoyed by all even the ‘remainers’ in the crowd!
Thank you the Rt Hon Miss Widdecombe DSG for the generosity or her time and enthusiasm; to St Boniface’s Catholic College for hosting the event on behalf of the Catholic Children’s Society; to Mrs Ela Polson and her catering students who expertly prepared and served the pre-show drinks and canapés; to student Dan for professionally managing the sound and lighting and to assistant head Mr Rob Ramage who had to stand in at the last minute for lead co-ordinator Mr Paul Scott. Nothing was too much trouble for the school and there warm welcome and hard work ensured that the evening was a huge success raising over £800 for the Society to help families in crisis across the Diocese.
